This is general information from SimplyNeurology, not a diagnosis or a treatment plan for a specific person.
After a first seizure, stay with the person, note the time, and keep the area clear. When the seizure stops, place them on their side if you can do that safely. Call emergency services if it lasts longer than five minutes, if another seizure starts before they recover, if they are injured, pregnant, or having trouble breathing, or if this is the first seizure.
One seizure is not the same as a diagnosis of epilepsy. That decision needs an evaluation. Read epilepsy and seizures. For a child, also read pediatric neurology and, if the seizure came with fever, febrile seizures.
